WTF, "manga girl"? you're not a manga artist!
Yeah, like I haven't noticed. I rarely see the sun, I spend more time drawing than I even do sleeping (which can be saying a lot), and if I take a break from training to draw faster and better, I'm busy editing myself. I suppose a better moniker would have been "mangaka girl" after the insane working conditions eastern comic artists subject themselves to, but they're not so different from those of great western animators (which I also highly respect for their demonstrated skill), or even a handful of American comic artists. Jack Kirby, anyone? But all kidding aside, when I picked this handle I was equally influenced by the anime and manga I could find, and North American comics (especially the 60's and 90's eras). Just, before Tokyopop had it's boom, North American comics were much easier to come by if you didn't have internet access and lived in a small rural community. And since... superheroes pay more (seriously). Now, my manga influence shows up in my work in less obvious ways, though I have been known to flip out and show my inner fangirl with some not-very-americanized fanart. ;)
